Location
The Massif of Vercors,
very rich in history, and very touristic area of France, filled
with hundreds of ponds , woods and forests of larches and fir
trees, this very pleasant and sunny region of France is the perfect
setting for this program.
Located 590 kms
from Paris, 36 kms from Grenoble andt 140 kms from Lyon.

from Paris: TGV train (to Grenoble) + Bus Transfer
Lodging
Our program takes
place in a beautiful house divided in two buildings, offering
rooms of 4 to 6 beds with shower facilities, dining-rooms, numerous
activity rooms inside and outside the buildings as well as a show
room (stage).
Training
Program
Our
French Counselor Training Program (Stage BAFA) is in fact divided
in 2 Stages, following the rules and
regulations of the French Government (Ministère de la Jeunesse
et des Sports):
1-
Theory / 18 days (August - 8- 25, 2007)
2- Technique and Practice / 21 days (2008)
This training is
offered by a French Summer Camp organization authorized by "Ministère
de la Jeunesse et des Sports" to give such training. It is
supervised by professional and qualified instructors and Camp
Directors who will follow, teach and train each participant in
order to help him obtain his diploma (BAFA). This certificate
will be given at the end of the program depending on the results
of each individual participant (Satisfactory or Non-Satisfactory).
If
the candidate passes successfully the first part of the program
(Theory),
he/she will be able to pursue the training and attend the second
part (Technique and Practice)
which will take place during the summer 2007 (21 days).
If
the candidate does not pass successfully the first Stage of the
program, he or she will have to apply again and pass it successfully
before continuing to Stage 2 or can choose to stop it all together.

3 to 4 B.A.F.A. Instructors.

for the Full Program
(2 Summers):3865€
This
price includes transportation from Paris R/T to the camp, full
board, lodging, laundry, activities, equipment and materials,
5 weeks training by professional instructors. Price does not include
airfare.
Please note that during the second part of the training the participant
will be paid a salary of approximately 500 €
for his work as a counselor in training).
Stage
(1) THEORY-
18 Days
1rst
part / 6 days :
Visiting and participating
in the every day life of a real summer camp (children age 7
through 11years old).
Preparation of
a Mini - Camp (camping trip following an itinerary).
2nd
part / 7 days (Camping
itinerary in the region):
Our participants,
supervised by the Program Director and his team, will leave on
their camping trip to complete their training. A minibus with
a driver will be available to them to transport all equipment
(tents, food, camp equipment and materials...). They will sleep
in tents (3 per tent), and as they follow their itinerary they
will stay in campgrounds or at one of our camp locations.
Their training
program includes: Setting up tents, creating menus, learning about
food and nutrition, cooking, cultural and sport activities, games,
organisation, without forgetting...the children!
This part of the
program gives our students a real chance to work with children
in a true summer camp setting. They assist professional counsellors
and camp directors in the every day organisation and management
of the camp and participate in the preparation of games and activities,
meals, night shows....
3rd
part / 5 days:
This final part
of the training takes place at one of our camp locations in the
Alps with several visit to the "real camp" who will
be in session (children 7 though 11 years old).
Stage
(2) PRATIQUE-
21 Days
Improvement
& Qualification Sessions:
The students, who
already know one Camp Director (from attending Stage 1) can choose
to follow their practical training in the same camp the second
summer. But if their desire is to work in a different camp, that
choice will also be given to them. A chance to experience working
in a different camp, which can only be positive.
During this final
part of the training program, our students will be part of a team
a counselor in a real French summer camp and will be paid a salary
as a "counselor in training" (approx. 500 euros).
Improvement
session (6 days):
prepares our students to become responsible for a group, they
will organise and supervise activities for children at camp. It
gives them a real chance to apply everything they have learnt
in their training the previous summer.
Qualification
session (8 days):
gives our students the technical and educational knowledge required
to become a professional camp counselor in France. Each student
can also choose his specialty among many activities like horseback
riding, theatre, artistic activities, water sports, puppets, games....
This session also includes FIRST AID
and CPR Training, preparing them
to cope with emergency situations that may occur during camp.
At
the end of the training, our students receive their diploma:
The B.A.F.A. delivered by "Le Ministère de la Jeunesse
et des Sports" after
a full review of their Training Report. This report includes appreciations
and notes from the Directors and training supervisors from both
Training Stages (Theory and Practice on site).
